Farrel was surprised to see Kailani already seated in class when it’s only 06:45 am when the school bell would only ring after forty five minutes later. for the past year of being her classmate, Farrel knows that she usually arrives at school after the clock reaches 07:10 am or so, and this, is a rare occasion.

One more thing that made Farrel wonder was the fact that Kailani is not scrolling down on her phone like she always does, but instead is sleeping with both of her arms folded to support her head on the table. She seemed to be in a deep sleep as she did not budge by an inch after Farrel pulled out his chair loudly on purpose to wake her up.

‘Did she not sleep last night?’ Farrel thought quietly to himself as he turned his chair around to face the sleeping Kailani, his eyes slowly glancing over her peaceful sleeping face. ‘Must’ve worked on the report she was talking about.’

His eyes glanced over to how a few strands of her silky black hair fluttered under the gentle breeze of their classroom’s air conditioner, her soft eyelashes that seemed longer when she has her eyes closed, her small nose, her round rosy cheeks and down to her pink lips. He stayed in the same position for another few minutes, not even minding the stares that he got from the other classmates as they slowly filled in one by one.

He sat there just staring at Kailani’s figure until an annoying voice interrupted him. “Santai aja kali merhatiinnya, awas jatuh cinta.” The voice’s owner-Irsyad teased him while sporting a knowing smirk and raised his eyebrows up and down as a cherry on top. This seemed to do the trick for farrel as he groaned in annoyance and flipped Irsyad off with a glare.

“Shut up, you’ll wake her up.”

“Is she really sleeping? Woah that’s new of he- Oh hey Kailani! Nyenyak ga tidurnya?” Irsyad greeted the still half sleepy girl, rotating his chair to also face her while placing his backpack down on the floor. Meanwhile the latter could barely register the people around her, mind still stuck in the dream she had earlier.

“Hi,” Kailani yawned, using her right hand to cover her mouth. “Udah masuk les pertama belum?” She continued as she rubbed her eyes open.

“Masih ada enam menit lagi. Kalau mau lanjut tidur gapapa, nanti gua bangunin.” Farrel replied. Irsyad who sat beside him nodded in agreement after seeing the darkening circles under Kailani’s eyes.

Tanggung, ah. I’ll just continue sleeping at home later.”

“I know you didn’t sleep a wink last night, Kai. It’s okay if you sleep for the whole lesson today, I’ll cover for you. I’ll take notes for you too so you don’t have to worry.” The Malaysian-Indonesian boy convinced her once again with a small smile.

“Tidur aja, daripada lo berubah jadi panda. Tapi gapapa juga sih kalau lo berubah jadi panda soalnya Farrel bakalan makin sayan- Ow! Sakit anjing!” Irsyad rubbed the stinging part of his arm where Farrel had just smacked him, lips forming into a deep pout.

“Tidur aja, ya?” Farrel patted Kailani’s head gently before handing her a neatly folded black hoodie for her to lay her head on.
